Overview
Canada's first national park remains its most spectacular. Banff townsite makes a comfortable base for exploring Lake Louise, Moraine Lake and the Icefields Parkway, one of the world's great scenic drives. Wildlife is part of daily life here — elk wander through town, and grizzly bears and bighorn sheep are regular sightings on quieter trails.

June to September for hiking and full road access; late September to early October for fall larch colors; December to March for skiing and snow-capped scenery.
